Date
HistoryDuring the landings at Çanakkale, there were two marine vessels used to transport soldiers, supplies, materials for building piers, and animals such as horses and mules for use in the landing area. These vessels, known as barges, have a flat bottom, shallow draft, and wide beam, and can be either motorized or non-motorized. It is believed that the barges sank during the landing at Seddülbahir on the morning of April 25, 1915. The smaller of the barges, located at a depth of 24 to 25 meters off Tekke Cove, is 18.2 meters long and its anchor and chain can be seen at the front. The other barge, which is 23.5 meters long, has a steam boiler visible next to it on the sand.
